| Are the reeds fragile?
Yes--they're reeds! That is why we package them in a protective case. When you are finished playing with the reed flute we recommend you place it back into its case. Why is a piece of paper placed between the cut in the upper part of the reed? There is a component in saliva which can make the slit in the upper part of the reed (which vibrates and produces the sound) stick together. We recommend you place the piece of paper (any piece will do) back in place after playing. This prevents the reed from sticking. The flute doesn't work--I can't get any sound out of it! What's happening is that your lips are preventing the reed from vibrating. Put the cut part of the reed flute all the way into your mouth. This time, when you blow, the reed will vibrate and you will hear a fabulous sound coming from your flute. |
